May EPC Speaker Meeting with William Hennessey

Date: Thursday, May 4, 2023
Time: 5:30pm - 8:00pm
Location: Imperial Golf Club
Speaker: William Hennessey

TOPIC: Gramps Has a New Friend? Ethically Navigating Declining Capacity

and the Challenge of Aging Clients

Please RSVP today for our May 4th Speakers Meeting. The speaker and topic has changed due to a conflict with the previous speaker. Please join to welcome William Hennessey from Gunster to our meeting.

Objective:  One of the most difficult issues we face as estate planning practitioners is navigating that fine line between “diminishing capacity” and “lack of capacity” for our aging clients.  On the one hand, our aging clients deserve autonomy and the right to make their own choices, decisions, and yes- mistakes.  However, the infirmities of aging and isolation make seniors particularly vulnerable to abuse.  This presentation will focus on the ethical and legal issues involved in representing clients with diminished and declining capacity, provide some tips on assessing capacity, and address some of the difficult challenges we face as practitioners for the aging (and the aged!).

Please note that our meeting will be held at Imperial Golf Club and you will not be disappointed in the menu for the night. If you require a vegetarian meal please notate that in the RSVP.

Thank you to our Bronze Sponsor, Collier Community Foundation. The Bronze Sponsor will be hosting the Cocktail Time prior to the meeting.

See you all there!
